Iron Glacier is an American company making secure file transfer devices for CNC machines. We are small, we are focused on one problem, and we know it from the operator’s side of the machine.
We come at this from both sides.
Iron Glacier was founded on two decades in CNC manufacturing, from running the machines to supporting them, and on a lifetime around computers before that. A computer bolted to a machine tool is where the two meet.
That background is the whole reason these products exist. The problem they solve came up over and over on the floor: a machine with years of work left in it, an IT department that cannot let it near the network, and a programmer walking a USB stick out to it in the meantime.
Most attempts at this problem come from IT companies working outward, and they tend to break something a machinist depends on. We started from the machine and worked toward the network instead. When CMMC turned from a distant acronym into something shops had to answer for, colleagues brought their questions here, and answering them properly meant learning the security side in earnest.
It does not make us a security firm, and we do not claim to be one. We lean on people who do this for a living, which is why independent penetration testing and third-party review are booked.
How we work
We are a small company and mean to stay that way. Design, assembly, testing, and support are not separate departments, so a technical question reaches the bench your unit was built on. You get an answer, not a ticket number.
Every unit goes through a standard test protocol before it ships: hardware verification, encryption validation, network connectivity, and machine communication checks. The point is to find a fault here, before the unit is anywhere near your machine.
Staying current
Security requirements change, and a device that never changes with them stops being an asset. Units under support receive security updates as issues come to light, and we ship a new release in September of every even year, aligned with standard release security cycles. On that same cycle existing customers can move to current hardware at a reduced price, and your users, settings, and logs come with you.

Iron Glacier LLC is based in Wellsville, Utah, and serves manufacturers across the United States. We take part in the manufacturing community through our local chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
